My apologies for the late start today but we've had two minor health scares at home in the last 24 hours. I've just returned from the doctor's rooms where word is that I'm not dead. Which is good. The other health scare concerns our 1994 Saab 9000 CS, which decided to slowly void itself of all automatic transmission fluid yesterday, noted mostly by the strange metallic sounds it was making when my wife picked me up from the office in...

I was supposed to have flown home today but missed my flight. Don't ask. I took advantage of the extra day to visit Taliesin West, the winter home and school of Frank Lloyd Wright. Mr Wright was among history's most influential architects so if you have an interest in architecture and design and happen to visit the Phoenix area take the 1.5 hour tour. It's well worth it. By the way, Frank Lloyd Wright was a car guy who collected automobiles as a hobby. If he were alive today he'd have undoubtedly been at the auctions and would have greatly admired this 1933 Pierce-Arrow Twelve Convertible Coupe, appropriately parked in front of a Wright-influenced building. Pierce-Arrows were highly refined automobiles built exclusively for the carriage trade; very expensive as our subject car shows. Note the headlights, flared into the fenders as they were in all cars built by this manufacturer. An older restoration, this lovely Pierce-Arrow is in perfect condition and sold at the RM auction for $385,000.

Add to myYahoo!Buick may indeed be experiencing the beginnings of a product renaissance with the introduction of the new Enclave crossover, but the full overhaul of its lineup still has a long way to go. Forgive me, Mr. Wagoner, Lutz, and Woods, but the Lucerne and LaCrosse aren't enough for your beloved brand to be mentioned in the same breath as Lexus.

Add to myYahoo! For the life of me, I will never fully comprehend just why the last generation (850 based) Volvo C70 convertible was not a success. Sales of the Pininfarina designed drop-top stagnated throughout production. My best guess is that two...
